Mr Ahmad Shadzli bin Abdul Wahab is an advisor to Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA). He graduated with BSc (Physics) from the King’s College, University of London. He has more than 35 years of dedication to the development of solar energy and renewable energy in Malaysia. Between 1982 to 1984, he was project manager of Malaysia’s first solar PV system for rural electrification programme that was sponsored by the Ministry of Energy.

In 1985, Mr Shadzli embarked on the design
and study of solar tracker for PV concentrators in the project of his postgraduate
study. He subsequently graduated with MSc (Solar Energy) from Universiti Sains
Malaysia upon completing his thesis on the data analysis of solar radiation
study for Malaysia’s Penang state.

Later, he was involved in the monitoring
and evaluation on Malaysia’s first co-generation plant which used rice husk for
power generation. He has also worked as project manager of Malaysia’s first fully
automatic multiple stations (4.5 MW) and project manager of Malaysia’s wind
energy system (150 kW) meant for electricity generation and water desalination
system for the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Other achievements of Mr Shadzli include
design of small wind turbine in Malaysia with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia,
design and study on 200 watt solar PV system using locally-designed 400 watt
inverter, consultancy to Ministry of Rural Development in preparing technical
design for solar electrification programme, feasibility study of 1 MW PV
manufacturing plant in Malaysia, and a five-year programme to set up
30-million-ringgit Energy Technology Laboratory for Tenaga Nasional Research
and Development Sdn Bhd (TNRD).

Mr Shadzli was Senior Manager and Head of Energy Technology Unit of TNRD and is currently the Managing Director of Intelligent Power System Technology Sdn Bhd.


Dr. Wei‑nee Chen has dedicated her career to advancing a sustainable and resilient future for the next generation, serving across the energy and carbon markets landscape. Her professional journey began in the energy sector, where she was engaged under a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) initiative to the Malaysian Government before becoming one of the pioneering members of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia, a statutory body under the Ministry of Energy. Over 14 years in government service, she played an instrumental role in shaping Malaysia’s renewable energy policies, regulatory frameworks, and national renewable energy agenda.

Building on her public‑sector leadership, Dr. Wei‑nee transitioned into the private sector with Hibiscus Petroleum, where she developed the company’s energy transition strategies and Climate Change Framework. In 2022, she joined Bursa Malaysia, a national multi-asset exchange, as the Head of Carbon Market, leading the Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX) and the development of Malaysia’s carbon market ecosystem.

Beyond her executive roles, Dr. Wei‑nee contributes her expertise through various advisory positions across the renewable energy, oil & gas and carbon market sectors, and remains actively engaged with academic institutions in shaping thought leadership and capacity building.

Her impact and influence have earned her both national and international recognition. In 2025, she was named one of Malaysia’s 25 Women in Energy in acknowledgment of her pioneering work, innovation, and leadership. In 2026, she was honoured as one of the World Federation of Exchanges’ Women Leaders, affirming her standing as a leading voice in the global energy and carbon markets.


Mr Chin Soo Mau is an advisor to the Malaysian Photovoltaic industry Association (MPiA).  He was formerly the President of MPIA for the period 2017-2020 and the Vice-President from 2013-2016 and has been an active member since 2010.

He has been involved in the solar PV business for many years and his knowledge and field experience have prompted the Malaysian Government to tap his expertise in policy-related planning.  He was a Member of the Working Group on Malaysia Solar Roadmap (MSR) 2016-2030 and also a Member of the Technical Committee of Malaysian Standards on Renewable Energy (TC RE), Resource Person of the Energy Storage System (ESS) Project for Malaysia.

Mr Chin is currently the Managing Director of Pekat Group Berhad.He holds a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, United Kingdom, Competent Certificates of both Grid-Connected and Off-Grid Photovoltaic Systems Designer, Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) registered Service Provider and International Sustainable Power Quality-accredited PV Systems Design Competency Certificates.


Mr. Davis Chong is the Advisor of the Malaysian Photovoltaic and Solar Energy Industry Association (MPSEA). Prior to this role, he served as the President of the Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA) for two consecutive terms (2023-2025). Drawing from his extensive experience and leadership, Davis now supports MPSEA by providing strategic guidance across its key initiatives, including government engagement, research, communications, and industry development. His focus is to broaden the sustainable solar energy landscape in Malaysia.

Throughout his career, Davis has been actively involved in shaping Malaysia’s solar industry. He has contributed to major national initiatives such as the Feed-in Tariff, Net Energy Metering, and the Large Scale Solar program. A passionate advocate for clean energy, Davis continues to champion the growth of solar power and Malaysia’s role in the global sustainability movement.

He is also the Executive Director, Group Chief Executive Officer, and one of the founding members of Solarvest Holdings Berhad. Under his leadership and vision, Solarvest has grown into a prominent clean energy solutions provider, offering innovative technologies and services including battery energy storage systems, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy efficiency solutions, and more.


Dr. Sulaiman Shaari is actively involved in the development of competency and skills in photovoltaic (PV) system applications. He is a leading figure in Malaysia and the region and has significant experience in human capacity cultivation, research, consultancy and expert advice for government and industry sectors, locally and internationally.

Dr. Sulaiman graduated with a Ph.D. specialising in PV systems from De Montfort University, England, United Kingdom (U.K.); M.S. in physics from University of Missouri, Kansas City, United States of America (U.S.A.); and B.S. in physics from the Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, U.S.A. Dr. Sulaiman earned his competency certificates from: Renewables Academy (RENAC) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Germany; Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), Malaysia; New Energy Development Organization (NEDO), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan; and Global Sustainable Energy Solutions (GSES), Australia and Institute of Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ).

Dr. Sulaiman is a certified Master/Chief Trainer issued by various organisations, namely: SUNGROW, Hefei, China; Guangzhou Sanjing Electric Co., China; Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEIC) Shanghai, China; Malaysia; Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA, now known as MPSEA); and is Train-the-Trainer accredited by Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) Malaysia.

Dr. Sulaiman represented Malaysia at: International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems (IEA PVPS) for Tasks 11 and 13; International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) for WG1_TC82; and APEC EWG 14 2015A project. He served as lead trainer-cum-examiner for Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ) accredited course, organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (MEGTW) Malaysia. Dr. Sulaiman also served as Secretary General 2019-2021 of the Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA), registered in Singapore, whose members and network cover Australia, Europe and the Americas.

Dr. Sulaiman has completed engagements with various government-linked agencies for projects such as: PV systems design, training, evaluation, tender documents, research proposals and post-project evaluations for PV systems. The government departments involved were: Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Office (PMO); MEGTW; Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI); the Ministry of Rural Development’s (MORD); Energy Commission (EC); SEDA; Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM); Public Works Department (PWD); and Perbadanan Taman Negara Endau-Rompin; AAIBE committee. Dr. Sulaiman served as chairman of the Working Group on PV (WGPV) for Malaysian Standards (MS) and was in the Technical Committee on Renewable Energy (TC RE).

Dr. Sulaiman served as a Director on the Board of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Holdings Sdn. Bhd.; resource person for CETREE, University of Science Malaysia (USM); Vice-President II of MPIA. Dr. Sulaiman was bestowed with several awards such as: APVIA-2015 for talent cultivation; MOSTI-2013 for PV standards in Malaysia; and various recognitions for products development and activities at the national and international levels.  

Dr. Sulaiman has served as Professor at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and has been engaged by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) at Gombak, Malaysia; and Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) Malaysia, as Master Trainer/Consultant. He was regularly engaged as evaluator, referee, reviewer, advisor and examiner at local and international programmes at universities/agencies. Dr. Sulaiman has authored many books on competency in PV systems design, installation, testing, commissioning and evaluation for Malaysia and has been instrumental in the development of Malaysian Standards on PV.
